Atlanta, GA – Aug 15th, 2002 . Domesticsoft announced today that it is shipping a commercial release of the NOTIFIER Fire Panel plug-in for OPC2net . This plug-in extends the OPC2net software to Fire Systems. With this new plug-in Fire Systems can easily be integrated into Building Management Systems (BMS) via an OPC (Ole for Process Control) interface. OPC is supported by most BMS-software. This plug-in supports the ID-family of NOTIFIER fire panels including ID3000, ID2000, ID2008, ID60 and ID50. The plug-in also supports multiple panel configurations, both Master/Slave and the new ID²net Fire Panel Network Technology recently released by NOTIFIER

"This new plug-in from DomesticSoft creates the ideal opportunity to link our new EN54 range of certified Fire Panels to third party Building Management Systems", says Mike Troiano, NOTIFIER Business Manager. "Our requirements to such connectivity solutions are extremely strict due to the life safety requirements for fire systems. It is essential that connectivity solutions between our Fire Panels and external systems be of the highest quality. We therefore recommend OPC2net as the best solution to virtually eliminate fears of connectivity and typical system integration problems"

"Building Automation is becoming a necessary part of each modern building now a days. Fire System without exception is a part of the building automation system", says Throstur Jonsson, DomesticSoft President. "Until recently it has not been very common to integrate the Fire System into Building Management Systems.  The reason is probably most likely technical problems doing so. In many ways, Fire Systems are different from other parts of the Building Control System. Our research and development work in this field has now realized in an OPC connectivity for Fire Panels. With OPC2net, it has now become as easy connecting BMSes to Fire Systems as to any other parts of the Building Control System. Doing this adds security against fire, makes the Fire Systems more reliable and definitely reduces risk of false alarms, that has been stated as one of the biggest problems with fire detection systems."
